Agent Orange Ex Gratia Payment - Veterans Affairs Canada

"The Government of Canada is offering a one-time, tax-free ex gratia payment of $20,000 related to the testing of unregistered U.S. military herbicides, including Agent Orange, at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Gagetown in New Brunswick during the summers of 1966 and 1967.

The deadline for applications is April 1, 2009."

Report on Elder Abuse

The National Seniors Council, an advisory body to the Government of Canada, released a report on elder abuse that includes a call for increased efforts to raise public awareness and to help those who work with seniors share information.

"We were very impressed by the commitment and energy of the participants at the elder abuse meetings," said Jean-Guy Soulière, Chair of the National Seniors Council. "We hope that this report will boost the important work on elder abuse already underway across Canada."
